About HIT Scotland

The Hospitality Industry Trust, known as HIT Scotland, is a Scotland based charity, which raises funds to support and encourage excellence in the hospitality industry.

Through practical support, which includes bursaries, scholarships and industry events, HIT Scotland helps those training to enter the industry and those already within. The overall objective is to help all to their full potential and further enhance and maintain the excellent skillbase within Scotland.

Bursaries

Since our creation in 1994, HIT Scotland has distributed over 8000 bursaries to students from universities and colleges across Scotland, who we look forward to welcoming into the industry.  For the first time in its history, in 2010 HIT Scotland are also taking student representatives from across Scotland to Lausanne to experience the Europe’s best professional hospitality school

Scholarships

To keep employees motivated and up to date in key skills, within the competitive world of hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism, HIT Scotland provides scholarships that can take place locally, nationally and internationally.

The Scholarships recognise the need to continually update skills within the industry, enhance personal development and bring fresh ideas back to Scottish businesses to remain at the forefront of international innovations. Scholars spend time working in many operational areas or on structured programmes to gain valuable knowledge that will give you the insight and confidence to get to the next level.

The limited Scholarships are available to all aspiring individuals working within Scottish hospitality (in its broadest sense) and the awards are presented at the annual Emerging talent conference, which takes place in February. The conference moves around the country and has taken place in Aviemore, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Ratho and the venue for 2010 is The Perth Concert Hall on the 3rd February.

Events

HIT Scotland relies on the generosity and vision of its supporters and sponsors. The involvement of a diverse group of people and businesses working across the leisure, hospitality, catering, travel and tourism sectors in Scotland creates many social and business opportunities. If you would like to become involved, HIT Scotland’s annual events, give you and you business the unique opportunity to network with all the key industry leaders in Scotland.
